What colour to change the car? (2) 15/05/03

After looking at several paint samples I decided to go for a flip coat. This gives the paint a different hue depending on the angle you look at it relavtive to the light source. The paint itself just looks like a milky liquid but is avaliable in several hue version. I decided that Green - Amber flip would be best to match the lotus colours but several flip choices are avaliable. The actual colours you get depend on the hue and shade of the base coat. I.E Green-Amber over Red will be red from some angles with a redish hue to the others. The shade or base coat determins the contrast of the colour change (dark- most, light - least).
The spray shop gave me the following examples of Green-Amber:-

Over Medium Green - Final Choice as the effect can be seen but is subtle.
Over BRG - Actually looked very similar to the black.
Over Purple - Second choice but probably still to much variation.
Over Blue - You could imagine this being on a nova escort with a drain pipe stucjk on the back.
Over Red - As Blue and therefore not the image of a Lotus.
Over Black - Could only see the Flip colour change and to extreme.

Over Green
Due to the paint effect it is very difficult to get an image so what I did was take several shots at different angles and used Photoshop to blend and give the effect you would see if it was on a curved surface, Actually its been exagorated to show the point.
You can see that it actually changes from a Silver Grey to Yellow to Green to Blueish. With Yellow being the highlight in the case with sunlight reflecting straight back off it.
Over Green
Another attempt to show the effect without enhancement.
